Rehabilitation of defective beehive

CRIN Embarks on Apiculture

The Institute, in her drive to enhance the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), has embarked on apiculture. This is in pursuance of the ED CRIN, Dr. Patrick Adebola, drive towards exploitation of the over fifty years’ rich ecosystem for the Institute’s maximum economic good. A team of staff ably led by the Director (Cashew), Dr. O.S. Ibiremo, deployed 8 units of Kenya hive model within the experimental zones of the Institute in January, 2022. Some hives that have suffered defect were equally rehabilitated. This is in continuation of the exercise which had yielded volumes of honey. At the moment, some of the hives that were earlier deployed are fully colonized. The success registered in apiculture has been extended to farmers of the Institute’s mandate crops in order to enhance their income profile. Other team members are Dr. Ibe Osita, Mrs. O.B. Ibiremo, Mr. Lukeman Atoyebi and Mr. Osalaye Joseph.
